What have we learnt about ghost finding
We have learnt that there three key factors one must have to be a respectable and professional ghost finder. What its not about is having all this high modern day technology, having a professional TV crew behind you, it not about financial gain….
What we have allways done was make what we do about the places and the people we meet. It’s all about making the people you talk to feel comfortable enough to tell you, there are a lot of investigators who exploit people and this makes the person feel ridiculous and stupid for even telling the encounters, we find this method very intrusive and insulting. We have allways made it very clear about how we conduct ourselves and especially how we interact with those we meet, we believe it’s such a privilege to be allowed in to conduct an investigation… so why would we want to stuff people about.
There are those who take great delight in debunking phenomena and parading it in the witnesses faces, this can make a person also feel stupid and can also create doubts to their own sanity. Though I find it hard to determine a place non active after one investigation and we never captured anything, the witnesses have either lived there or worked, visited a lot so they shouldn’t let others influence their minds, they should hold on to that belief with strong positively.
We always tell folks that if we don’t capture anything then we are not going to disagree with them, in fact a lot of investigation end up empty handed, there are plenty of factors for this, but if someone is having regular encounters with ghosts, then we will help until we capture some proof, we do not want people being let down due to one investigation or feeling we do not believe them.
We also are not in this to make a mockery out of people for telling their stories, as we it can be hard for some to tell anyone about their encounters. We are not in this to create bad business or give the location a reputation that could cause clientele to stop coming in. We are not doing this to create a world wide phenomenon; we hope that even a small bit creates tourism (in a good way) we do this to create awareness to places that need tourism and since ghosts have become big again, its always and interesting feature to have at a location.
The three factors
Respect is the main one
When given the chance to investigate, always be thankful, kind, considerate, this creates the first signs of respect.
Conducting an investigation, one must leave the location as one found it, no stealing, no drinking or drug taking, no defacing walls, no smashing of items.
Even if they don’t allow you to investigate, you’ve got to respect their answer.
You must have the same respect for the spirit world, respecting is one way of staying unharmed during an investigation.
All rules of respect apply when conducting an investigation out doors… especially in a cemetery.
You must have respect for others opinions as there are a lot of folk who don’t really care for ghosts; you must never challenge any one on this.
Don’t explore anywhere with out permission
Patience
Ghost activity doesn’t happen every minute, majority of investigations are silent and non active.
When chatting to some one about their experiences, allow them to finish what they have to say… some people have struggles in explaining it the way they want to, so give them time to complete their tale.
If you have new team members remember be patient as they haven’t got the experience yet, the best thing for new team mates and old ones in encouragement.
Commitment
Ghost finding is not a 24 hour, 7 days a week job, but when you are about to investigate… do some research on location before hand.
When conducting an investigation one must be committed to what ever task is given to them.
One thing that we have noticed with a few paranormal programs is the attitude some have towards witness telling their stories and to their own team, we don’t understand this importance to be the best investigators on the planet and have all the knowledge on the subject, cause no one ever will. Some display an arrogance that is sickening and pathetic; some come across so cock sure that they really haven’t got a clue on the fundamentals of ghost finding. but no one is better than the next person because we know more, we don’t look down on those who come out with us, we offer encouragement and the honest truth about ghost finding. To us it’s all about offering help and education, it’s all about being equal and enjoying one another’s company, we do not bag or degrade anyone we speak to or the team, we have a honesty approach in which every ones thoughts are heard and excepted. Some might find us a bit smartarse type or a suck up type of team, we just don’t want to bullshit anyone… we know we are not perfect and will sometimes get images and clips wrong, have different ways of doing things that others may not like, some time have incorrect information and we will whole heartily apologies, but we are trying to get a certain message across and we hope some will pick that up…. Any folks happy findings and keep safe.
