My haunted home

I have always wanted to live with a ghost… sounds strange eh? But it would be great understanding and education for me to study them when things happen. I moved into a house with over 50 years history, not an intense one just average. The spirit that roams our home is one of a protector, her name is “Beryl” and she is what we would class as a friendly spirit. How the name came up was just as fascinating as “Beryl” herself. A few years ago I was talking to a resident who had lived in my area for over 40 years and knew everyone from the era. I had this name “Beryl” floating in my head for about a year, so I called the spirit “Beryl” I really didn’t now what the real name was, Beryl just kept coming to light. The old man told me that a lady called (wait for it) Beryl had live in the place I was living in since it was first built, now I never told this man I called the spirit Beryl and it became a big shock for me to know this. Beryl was very old and hunched back, one day she walked out the gate and into traffic (possibly unaware of the traffic) and was killed immediately…. So this would explain why Beryl has an attachment to the home or the area around. It seems to that Beryl has become more active since I found out her real name, so for the past 6 years I have been keeping a record of the activity Beryl creates…. But we have now come to the conclusion that there are two more spirits with us in the home, one is definitely a cat and the other is possibly a older male (may be Beryl’s husband)

Here is a list of activity Beryl has created:

. On four separate occasions the back door has opened when it’s been locked.

The front door was witnessed by Mike and I opening when the latch was locked.Mike had a poster board fly at him off the t.v.On three occasions this year we have heard a rocking chair creaking away

Footsteps have been heard walking down the hall, they sound as if they are walking on wooden floors but we have carpeted floors.

I have felt two slaps on top of the head, once falling to sleep and one as I was waking up.

Letters, keys and Sunglasses have gone missing only to appear in strange place in the home, I found a letter once in the fridge.

Numerous cold breezes wafting by, all doors and windows are closed.

My flat mate witnessed a hunched over shape walking around my bedroom

Numerous lights bulb blow

Several strange sounds captured on tape, as well as a male voice (gruff like) calling out to my flatmate by his real name (which we never call him)

The occasional banging’s and creaking

A white misty shape was seen by me, moving past the doorway of the lounge room

Numerous movements from the corner of the eyes

A cobweb sensation across the arms and face on two occasions

Sudden cold spots, this happens when we have a fire going.

Shadows moving past the windows

The sound of a ghost cat chewing dry food

The manifested meow of a cat, which I communicated with it, thinking it, was one of my own but I found no trace of pussycat that night, plus my cats have very distinctive meows

.I have had my leg jerked while watching t.v.

We have sometimes found the cats outside, when we have left them in the home. The back door is still locked and no windows open.

Numerous anomalies captured on Video, Still or sound recorders

On Saturday 12^th of September, while watching t.v. both mike and I noticed a large black shadow move through the kitchen, it moved in front of the stove and faded into the cupboards. We both saw this from the corner of the eyes and we turned to see it vanish, I asked if that’s Beryl and a sudden coldness filled the lounge room (and we had a fire going)

We could do a full publication on Beryl, she has given us so much insight to hauntings and interaction, sometimes when Beryl moves things we give her a stern talking to and the objects turn up later. Another thing about Beryl she loves people to know she is there but can get a bit picky on who she interacts with, we get the feeling she enjoys our company as much as we do her, she has a naughty side and she doesn’t mind letting you know if she isn’t getting enough attention (she can act like a big kid at times).

Those who have encountered her feel no nastiness from her, to us she yearns for company and in her living days must of like to chat and be around people she cares and enjoys. Beryl doesn’t show herself to everyone but when she does it’s in a great way.

The cat spirit is just as intriguing and peaceful as Beryl, when I heard the cat meow and to how close it was from me has remained with me for year and always will. Though I wasn’t the only one who heard it, both Mike and Bert (flatmate) heard it, it took place during a thunderstorm and it has never been heard since, maybe it was a family cat that lived here before us or maybe it was a cat my house mate owned which passed away a few months earlier

, and because we have cats it may have felt it would be safe around us to be heard.

The date is Monday 31^st of August 2009; well folks something very strange has happened, the keys that mysteriously disappeared 4 months ago have turned up. I found them under the couch, while I was chasing a mouse about, for days Bert & I searched frantically for them and to no avail, we turned the house upside down to find these keys, only to fall out of couch when I lifted it up to get the mouse… “Beryl” is starting to become more interactive with us. We believe Beryl had taken great enjoyment in playing games and we have jokingly said to her we will have someone come in and cleanse the home. Of course we wouldn’t as this could piss her off in a big way.

Some folk may be frightened by having a ghost roam the house, and some really have a reason to be afraid…. But those who live with spirits like Beryl actually enjoy the company and begin to have a great deal of respect and understanding.

I’ve decided to keep a proper log of beryl’s activity and we are going to start off with the latest.

Tuesday 20^th of October

I was talking to a friend about up coming investigations , during the conversation I felt a distinctive tug on my shirt, it was on the left side shoulder, I even saw the shirt re-settle back. It was unexpected but if one thing I know about beryl is expect the unexpected
